About

Meet Lynsey D'Vaz

Feel good. Move well. That is my goal for you. I believe my fastidious approach to analysing your posture and movement through a combination of traditional physiotherapy assessment techniques and meticulous guidance within Pilates sessions will give you the ultimate opportunity to achieve your long term rehabilitation goals.

Having been a physiotherapist for sixteen years, and Pilates trained for eight, I believe in a whole body approach to self wellness. Combining Physiotherapy and Clinical Pilates allows movement patterns to be corrected and posture to be improved as well as increasing strength and flexibility. Your 60 minute appointments with me will address not only your lower back pain that finally forces you to seek professional help but also your knee or neck that bothers you from time to time that you persevere with but then (lets be honest!) you ignore as it seems to disappear.

Completing my physiotherapy training in the UK in 2008 I moved to Australia in 2011 quite simply in search of better weather! Working in a private practice for two years and using manual therapy extensively I found this quickly tiring on my body and at the same time did not feel like I was giving my clients the tools and knowledge they needed for long term recovery.

Through my own research I quickly learnt of Pilates and its growing popularity and recognition within physiotherapy rehabilitation. I was incredibly lucky to have Polestar Pilates Education and Training centre right on my doorstep in the Northern Beaches. Proudly achieving full certification in Clinical Pilates Rehabilitation in May 2016 I knew my Pilates training was recognised globally as the Gold Standard. I instantly fell in love with not only what Pilates did for my own body but knew equally how powerful it would be in my treatment and management of clients. At this moment I knew I had found my niche. Discovering Pilates both professionally and personally at the same time I feel stronger, more grounded and healthier than I did ten years ago. A significant statement being well into my forties with a toddler at my heels!

I have worked at Polestar Pilates (Brookvale) since August 2015 in the rehabilitation of clients of all ages with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions both acute and chronic. Applying both physiotherapy knowledge in conjunction with my Clinical Pilates skills I have helped clients with back and neck pain, knee, hip, and shoulder issues as well as pregnancy and beyond. In addition working in post operative orthopaedics at Mater hospital part time for 7 years I have a vast experience with acute post-op clients following a wide range of interventions including knee and hip replacements, spinal, upper and lower limb surgeries. I have also provided the extended rehabilitation required by such procedures for a number of these clients on their return home. Merging knowledge and experience gained from both rolls has enabled me to serve all my clients to a high standard. Please see my 'Services' page for further detail.

I look forward to meeting you. Making you feel good and move well!
