Move well and feel good. That will ALWAYS be my goal for you. Whatever your musculoskeletal issue I will look not just at the site of pain but at the rest of your body. Using a holistic approach I will tease out any other musculoskeletal imbalances you may have acute or chronic to identify the true cause of your pain. And, as for most of us, there may be a few intertwined! Providing immediate relief with a rage manual therapy techniques whilst addressing the root cause with exercise prescription I will ensure you remain pain free for good or be able to self manage any chronic conditions.

I love solving the puzzle of those with back and neck pain so if you’ve just woken up and can’t move your neck immediate manual therapy is key to get you moving. Or if your back has suddenly locked up you may need some taping to provide you with support in the acute stage. Maybe your pain is more chronic, requiring both manual therapy and specific exercises to resolve your pain for good! My whole body analysis and approach to your diagnosis and treatment in your 60 minute appointment is key to achieving your rehabilitation goals.

I have a passion for improving thoracic mobility (upper back) often discovering this is significantly reduced in most people especially those with neck and/or low back pain as well as new breastfeeding Mamas. It is also equally important for surfers to achieve thoracic extension whilst paddling to prevent over loading of the neck and lower back. Increasing thoracic mobility is key to improving any lower back or neck pain and even shoulder function but is rarely addressed properly! Treatment will include hands on therapy as well as home exercises and of course Pilates will always be of benefit!

Having worked part time for 7 years in post operative orthopaedics at the Mater Hospital (North Sydney) I have a vast experience in acute post-op recovery with clients following total hip and knee replacements, spinal surgeries as well as various soft tissue repairs of the shoulder (e.g. Bicep repair) and knee (ACL/MCL/Meniscus) to name but a few. I am well accustomed to working and communicating with orthopaedic surgeons and their individual surgical protocols. I am able to adjust and fit post operative  braces according to post operative instructions as well as provide manual therapy and education to aid with scar management. I thoroughly enjoy working with such clients once they return home witnessing their progression on their rehabilitation journey and have found Pilates an excellent tool in combination with traditional physiotherapy and any manual therapy that is required.

Whilst commencing your rehabilitation journey with traditional physiotherapy methods whatever your musculoskeletal issue is, ongoing recovery, addressing your body holistically, would most likely benefit from bespoke Pilates sessions for which I am extremely passionate about.

Pilates is my passion in rehabilitation and for everyone! My fastidious approach in your bespoke Clinical Pilates sessions is what sets me apart from all others. Merging my physiotherapy knowledge with that of Clinical Pilates to meticulously guide your posture and movement control I will address your body holistically ensuring the ultimate improvement in your whole body biomechanics. Whether your goal is to be pain free, better manage a chronic condition, or increase your strength, flexibility and balance whatever your age, Pilates will allow you to to achieve your rehabilitation goal.

Whilst you may require traditional physiotherapy treatments in the acute stages, ongoing recovery would always benefit from Bespoke Pilates. Pilates increases your body awareness and easily highlights to you, as a client, poor habitual postures or patterns of movement. It therefore makes it easier for you to understand and correct postures and movement patterns that are the likely cause of your pain. You will experience an increased confidence to move with ease and be pain free

I have a passion for correcting long standing poor postures and poor movement patterns to overcome pain using Pilates. Whilst you may be told your posture or movement needs to improve I believe it impossible to truly change either without the use of Pilates and its use of precise positioning and control and of course my meticulous guidance!

The benefits of Pilates are numerous - increasing strength, flexibility, body awareness, inducing relaxation, breath control, improving posture in both sitting and standing to name but a few.

We all need Pilates in our body!

Combining physiotherapy with Bespoke Pilates I have the knowledge and state-of-the-art equipment to allow you to exercise safely right up to the end of your pregnancy and address any issues you may have along the way. Your sessions will combine manual therapy and exercise with the focus of releasing muscles tightened with your changing posture and prepare your body for labour. Exercise prescription will also include appropriate pelvic floor activation and maintenance of strength and balance. If it's a pelvic support brace you require to provide relief of low back/pelvic/pubic symphysis pain I can advise you of a local stockist of the Thuasne LombaMum and ensure you are fitted correctly.

As mentioned above I have a passion for improving thoracic mobility (upper back) often discovering this is reduced in most people and more significantly so for breastfeeding Mamas. This can result in neck, thoracic, lower back and even shoulder pain. Education around breast feeding postures and increasing thoracic mobility is key to improving any resultant pain but is rarely addressed properly. Treatment will include hands on therapy as well as home exercises and of course Pilates will always be of benefit!

New Mums can often experience debilitating wrist pain around the base of the thumb as a result of repetitive movements of lifting their newborns. Advice, education and often a supportive brace to block movement of the thumb is vital as soon as possible to prevent this condition, known as De Quervain's tenosynovitis, becoming chronic. Again I can highly recommend the Thuasne Ligaflex Manu and can advise where this is stocked locally to you.

Once baby is here I encourage you to bring your bundle along - I would love a cuddle whilst you focus on your postpartum journey. Having an emergency caesarean myself I understand what this entails both physically and mentally. It is difficult at times to make a commitment to your own rehabilitation needs with a newborn (or baby, even toddler!) but I’d love to help make it easier by providing a private and comfortable space for you to bring your little one with you whatever their age.
